The arrival of your new baby is an exciting yet scary time in each new Mom’s life. The ability to capture the arrival of your new baby has evolved over time and the options are endless. I have compiled a list of ideas you can use to document this special time, and some I wish I had thought of back when my babies were little.
- Take a picture of the CTG machine, showing your contractions and baby’s heart rate. You can even take 2, one at the beginning at one towards the end of labor. Keep in mind that if you don’t get a later picture it is okay.
- Take a picture of a the clock showing your baby’s arrival. Now I don’t expect you to be thinking of taking a picture right at the moment of birth but the good thing with time is it will be the same time tomorrow and would provide a great opportunity to snap the “time” picture.
- The following is a must. Take pictures of your baby on the scale showing their weight and of them getting their measurements taken. These pictures will be treasured by your little one one day.
- This is my favorite photo, their first skin to skin contact with both Mom and Dad. Something about these pictures touch my heart as you can see how much the baby is loved.
- Who can resist the first family picture with Mom, Dad and big brother/sister. This picture captures this amazing new chapter with your new bundle of joy.
- The tiny perfect little details of your baby should be captured such as toes, little hands, cheeks, lips, eye lashes etc. Taking these pictures will help you remember how tiny they were because the grow oh so fast.
- Now it is time to announce to the world that your precious baby has arrived. This can be taken in the bassinet with a beautifully crafted birth announcement. This announcement can contain just the baby’s name, or can have a side where you can write all the important stats to share with your loved ones.
I KNOW I have missed many photo opportunities but this just a start. The ability to take a picture at a moments notice is so very easy today. So take as many as you want and don’t be surprised if you need more phone storage for ALL of those precious moments with your new baby.
